High Note

Note cards are fun and easier to fill. The smaller canvas somehow makes it all seem rather cute. One stamp can take up the entire front if you let it. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   High Tide

Paper:
   Whisper White Note Card 5 x 3-1/2, 4-3/4 x 3-1/4 (2)
   Night of Navy 4-7/8 x 3-3/8

Ink:
   Night of Navy
   Pacific Point
   Soft Suede
   So Saffron

Technique:
   Stamp-Off

Accessories:
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the sand at the bottom of the Whisper White panel, using Soft Suede. I stamped-off to get a lighter shade of Soft Suede.

I then stamped the lighthouse, using Pacific Point. This is a two-step stamp, so I inked up the full lighthouse with Pacific Point, but I stamped-off on scratch paper first, and then stamped the white panel. I then took the detailed image of the light house and stamped it over the first image with a full strength of Pacific Point. You may want to play with this on a scratch paper before stamping your panel.

Next, I stamped the sentiment, using Night of Navy on the right side of the lighthouse.

I then added a beam of light with So Saffron ink.

Next, I stamped the birds, using Soft Suede and added gritty sand to the beach. I did NOT stamp-off for these.

I then adhered the panel onto a Night of Navy matte, and then onto the front of the Note Card.

Lastly, I adhered a panel to the inside of the note card.

Seaside Birthday

Nature scenes are wonderful for masculine cards. I made this one for a birthday celebration. What do you think?

Stamps:
   High Tide
   Birthday Whimsey

Paper:
   Sahara Sand A-2
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Daffodil Delight
   Early Espresso
   Mossy Meadow
   Pacific Point
   Sahara Sand

Technique:
   Sponging

Accessories:
   Sponge
   Adhesive

First, I sponged a Basic White panel with Daffodil Delight ink.

I then stamped the sand on the bottom of the card, using Sahara Sand.

Next, I stamped the water, using Pacific Point. I made sure, I created a horizon line and then filled in the rest up to the beach.

I then stamped the sentiment at the top of the panel, using Early Espresso.

Next, I stamped the birds in the air and on the beach, using Early Espresso ink.

I then added grass with a bit of Mossy Meadow.

Lastly, I adhered the panel onto the Sahara Sand card front and added a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Shining Light Too

I think some of my favorite cards were made completely by accident. I made this card for someone facing a difficult journey with their health. You know, God's plan sometimes hits us by surprise. Still, there is always hope. Any thoughts?

Stamps:
   High Tide

Paper:
   Whisper White A-2, 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8

Ink:
   Soft Sky
   Daffodil Delight
   Pumpkin Pie
   Pacific Point
   Marina Mist
   Pool Party
   Cherry Cobbler
   Real Red
   Soft Suede
   Mossy Meadow
   Basic Black

Technique:
   Masking
   Brayer
   Sponging
   Stamp-Off

Accessories:
   Brayer
   Sponge
   Adhesive

I began by stamping my lighthouse twice: once on the Whisper White panel and once on a scrap of cardstock, which I fussy cut to create my mask. I stamped the lighthouse in Real Red and added the accents in Cherry Cobbler. Note that the mask can be stamped in any color on any scrap of paper. Remember you only need the outline of the lighthouse to create the mask.

Next, I used my brayer to paint my sky. I started with a bit of Daffodil Delight bringing the brayer down to a third of the way down. I used the top of the lighthouse as a guide. Then I added the Soft Sky at the top portion of the panel. I then sponged a tad of Pumpkin Pie at the bottom of the Daffodil Delight.

I then added the beach at the bottom of the lighthouse. I used Soft Suede. I added the Soft Suede full strength at the base of the lighthouse, and stamped-off for the surrounding sand. I added the grass using Mossy Meadow.

I then stamped my sentiment on the top right of the panel using Basic Black. I did this to make sure that my water would not rise above the sentiment.

Finally, I added my water. I used three colors: Pacific Point, Marina Mist, and Pool Party. I had to make sure that my mask was always in place as I stamped the water.

I then looked at the card and decided to add the gulls at the last minute. I stamped them using Basic Black. I found that the water was still visible on them. So, I colored them in more with my Basic Black marker.

I then adhered this Whisper White panel to a Basic Black panel and then onto the Whisper White card base.

Shining Light Rays

Having a smaller canvas to work with can be easier when you are creating a card. This is a note card size. You can buy this size in white and vanilla. There are 20 scored cards with envelopes. All you do is add to the card front and write or stamp on the inside. Of course, you have to mail it too! I like to keep two or three packs handy. What do you think?

Stamps:
   High Tide

Paper:
   Whisper White 5 x 3-1/2 (Note Card), 4-3/4 x 3-1/4
   Night of Navy 4-7/8 x 3-3/8

Ink:
   Night of Navy
   Pacific Point
   Crumb Cake
   Soft Suede
   Daffodil Delight

Technique:
   Sponging
   Masking

Accessories:
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the sun and rays using a sponge and a straight edge.

Next, I stamped the beach on the bottom left using Crumb Cake.

I then decided to stamp my sentiment on the top right with Night of Navy. This way my water level would not go up too high.

I then masked off my beach area using a sticky note. I then stamped my water using Pacific Point. It is a small stamp, so I did stamp over and over until I was happy with it. The idea was to keep the horizon as straight as I could.

Lastly, I stamped my gulls. I did not realize that the blue water was going to come through the Soft Suede. I don't think it is that noticeable. I think I may try using Basic Black, or stamping and masking them before stamping the water. Any suggestions?

Purple Mountains

For someone with no artistic ability, I can easily amaze myself. This Waterfront stamp set is simply amazing. Using the various images you can create majestic scenes or simple ones. Take a look.

Stamps:
   Waterfront
   High Tide (Optional)

Paper:
   Wisteria Wonder A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Wisteria Wonder
   Tranquil Tide
   Elegant Eggplant

Technique:
   Stamp-Off

Accessories:
In the Woods Framelits Dies (Optional)
   Adhesive

This scenic card looks like it took a great amount of artistic ability, time, and materials to create. Yet, the opposite is true. All of the images are stamps that require ink and a good press. If you don't believe me, take a few minutes and watch the video.

Although the card only takes 10 minutes to make, the video is 13 minutes long to allow for my "senior" moments. I apologize in advance.

The birds are from the High Tide stamp set, and can easily be omitted. I also used a framelit die from In the Woods Framelits to tear the bottom of the card. This can also be skipped or altered.

Thank you for stopping and taking a peek. I appreciate your time and comments.

The Beach

An evening walk along the shoreline, listening to the waves and watching the sunset is one of the most relaxing activities you can do during the hot humid summer nights. This is the thought that popped into my brain when I was challenged to depict a beach scene on a card front. Unfortunately, I do not always have the stamps to match the image in my head. So, here is the closest to it.

Stamps:
   High Tide
   Sweetly Swirled

Paper:
   Pool Party A-2
   Whisper White 5 1/4 x 4
   Crumb Cake 5 1/4 x 2

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento
   Crumb Cake
   Daffodil Delight
   Delightful Dijon
   Pool Party

Technique:
   Sponging
   Tearing

Accessories:
   Sponge
   Adhesive

The Crumb Cake card stock edge is torn toward you to create that rough edge. The grass/weeds are stamped with Delightful Dijon, and the sky is sponged with Daffodil Delight. I used Pool Party for the water and Black Memento for the birds and sentiment. The Crumb Cake is stamped on the Crumb Cake card stock to create the rough look of sand.
