Rooted Always

This simple layout can be used for any sentiment that you need. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Rooted in Nature

Paper:
   Tranquil Tide A-2
   Cajun Craze 5-1/4 x 4
   Nature's Poem DSP 4 x 4-1/2 cut @ 1-1/2 twice
   Basic White 3" Sq., 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Petal Pink
   Tranquil Tide

Technique:
   Fussy Cut

Accessories:
   Jute Twine 25"
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the log, using Petal Pink ink. I stamped it on the 3" square of Basic White.

I then fussy cut around it and stamped the sentiment in the center, using Tranquil Tide ink.

Next, I adhered the three panels of Nature's Poem DSP onto the Cajun Craze panel. I kept the panels in order and spaced them as evenly as possible.

I then wrapped the Jute Twine around the bottom of the panel and tied a knot to keep it together.

Next, I adhered the panel onto the Tranquil Tide card front.

Lastly, I added the log to the top center of the card, using dimensionals and adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Cowboy Rope

Masculine cards require very little. This is a clean and simple card for that rugged man in your circle. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Country Livin'
   Bring on the Cake

Paper:
   Basic Black A-2
   Wood Textures DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Chalkboard 3" Sq.
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Cotton White StazOn

Technique:
   Heat Embossing

Accessories:
   White Embossing Powder
   Embossing Buddy
   1/16" Jute Twine - 12"
   Glue Dots
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I powdered the chalkboard square, using the Embossing Buddy.

I then stamped the boots, using Cotton White StazOn.

I added the White Embossing Powder and heat set it.

Next, I took the 12 inches of Jute Twine and wrapped it around a pencil. I kept it all in a circle with some glue dots.

I then took the Wood Textures DSP panel and stamped the sentiment on the lower center of the card.

Next, I adhered the panel to the Basic Black card front.

I attached the chalkboard square, using dimensionals, and adhered the Jute Twine with a couple of glue dots.

Lastly, I added a bit of color to the boot straps with a blue marker and adhered the Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Enjoy Today

Masculine cards can be difficult to create. I always want to add a bit of bling. I need to learn to keep it simple. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Campology

Paper:
   Crumb Cake A-2
   Evening Evergreen 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Watercolor 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Evening Evergreen

Markers:
   Balmy Blue
   Granny Apple Green
   Crumb Cake

Technique:
   Clear Block Watercolor

Accessories:
   Clear Block "E"
   Water Mister
   Jute Twine 24"
   Adhesive

First, I colored directly onto my clear block using markers. Balmy Blue on the top, Granny Apple Green in the center, and Crumb Cake on the bottom.

I then misted the block with a bit of water, and then stamped my watercolor panel in the center. I left the block for a bit to make sure the color was being soaked in by the paper.

After it was dry, I stamped my trees and sentiment, using Evening Evergreen.

I then adhered the panel onto an Evening Evergreen matte and then onto the Crumb Cake card front.

Next, I wrapped some Jute Twine around the left side and tied it into a bow. You can also just tie a knot for a bit more masculine feel.

Lastly, I adhered the Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Thank You Pelican

If you have ever been close to a pier, you more than likely have come across a pelican or several. They like to perch themselves along the pier. Why do they do this? I suspect they like being close to their food source. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Waves of Inspiration
   Flowing Flowers

Paper:
   Soft Suede A-2, 1-1/2 x 3
   Simply Marbleous DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Soft Suede

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Jute Twine 12"
   Rhinestone Waves Basic Jewels
   Waves Dies
   Stampin' Seal+
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped and die cut the pelican on its perch and set it aside.

Second, I stamped the sentiment on the top left of the DSP.

I then took the jute twine and tied a knot at various intervals. About a width of a finger apart.

I adhered the twine across the lower half of the DSP and wrapped it around the back using Stampin' Seal+.

Next, I adhered the DSP panel to the Soft Suede card front.

Lastly, I added a few rhinestones and adhered the Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

Grand Life

Whenever I play with a new technique or tool, I create many panels that will be placed in a pile for use as scratch paper. Since I was challenged to rescue a mistake, I took one of the panels and stamped on it. I then wrapped some jute twine around it and adhered it with some fast fuse to my card base. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Life Is Grand

Paper:
   Peekaboo Peach A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Blackberry Bliss

Acrylic Paint:
   Orange
   Blue
   Brown

Technique:
   Gel Press

Accessories:
   Jute Twine
   Fast Fuse

If my memory serves me well, when I made this panel, I was playing with my gel press and trying to create texture on the background. So, I used a large, coarse watercolor brush to spread my colors. I also used a stamp to try a create an impression. I guess it is not too bad when it is combined with a few other elements.

Birds, Butterflies, & Buttons

This background piece was one inch away from being dumped in the trash bin. It was the last sheet used to scoop up left over paint on my gel press printing plate. I thought it was too sporadic to serve as a background. Still, I held onto it. Yup, I used it on a challenge that called for a "shabby" card. I think it works. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Free as a Bird

Paper:
   Blueberry Bushel A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Blackberry Bliss

Acrylic Paint:
   Yellow
   Green

Markers:
   Crumb Cake
   Real Red
   Garden Green
   Calypso Coral
   Daffodil Delight
   Pool Party
   Peekaboo Peach
   Flirty Flamingo

Technique:
   Gel Press Printing
   Punching

Accessories:
   Butterfly Duet Punch
   Bright Button
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Jute Twine
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

Backgrounds created with a gel press printing plate are one of a kind. Even if I apply the same color of ink, the backgrounds will be different. That is the fun of gel press printing.

Rooted

Masculine cards are not as easy to design or create. It seems that most cards will contain some sort of "frilly" item. Here is a card that I feel does fit the masculine category.

Stamps: Rooted in Nature
Paper: Tranquil Tide A-2, Cajun Craze 5 1/4 x 4, Nature's Poem DSP 4 x 4 1/2 (Cut @ 1 1/2), Whisper White 5 1/4 x 4 (Inside), 3 1/4 x 4 (Trunk)
Ink: Petal Pink, Tranquil Tide
Technique: Fussy Cutting
Accessories: 25" Jute Twine, Dimensionals, Adhesive

This masculine card comes together very quickly. As you can see, the bottom of mine has an extra cut. I should and will leave this bottom piece intact. I adhered the DSP onto the Cajun Craze card stock. I then tied on the Jute Twine. I stamped the tree trunk and fussy cut it. This was adhered with Dimensionals. Lastly, I adhered the card front to the card base. I used liquid glue, but any strong adhesive will do as well. Other suggestions include: tear & tape, glue dots, fast fuse, dimensionals, etc.

I hope you like it. This Rooted in Nature stamp set is taking the place of our very popular and vintage stamp set: Lovely as a Tree. I will miss seeing it in the catalog, but look forward to continue to create with it. Stamps will last for a VERY long time if they are properly cared for.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek. I appreciate and encourage all of your feedback.
