O, Holy Night

This card takes patience and time to make. The paper piercing and fussy cutting the wise men take quite a bit of time. Sometimes, though this is the part that calms us and helps us de-stress. I kept the glass window vellum clear so the focus remained on the wise men and the star. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Illuminated Christmas

Paper:
   Old Olive A-2
   Graceful Glass Vellum 2-1/4" Sq., 5-1/4 x 4
   Cherry Cobbler 5 x 3-1/2
   Whisper White 4-3/4 x 3-3/8, 4 x 3, 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Markers/Blends:
   Various - Personal Choice

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Coloring
   Fussy Cutting

Accessories:
   Stained Glass Thinlits Dies
   Layering Squares Framelits Dies
   Clear Faceted Gems
   Gold Wink of Stella
   Clear Wink of Stella
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive
   Paper Snips

First I readied all of my pieces. I stamped, colored and fussy cut the wise men. I added some Clear Wink of Stella to them. I used dimensionals to attach them to the card.

The star was stamped and colored with Stampin' Blends. I think I used Bumblebee. I added Gold Wink of Stella and attached it with dimensionals. I used a Clear Faceted Gem in the middle.

The sentiment was also stamped and added with dimensionals.

The window was die cut and added onto a Whisper White panel. I added a 2-1/4" square of vellum in the window opening. I then paper pierced all around the window. This panel was then adhered to the Cherry Cobbler panel.

The 5-1/4 x 4" panel of vellum was adhered to the Old Olive card base. The Cherry Cobbler panel was then added onto it.

Lastly, I added the 5-1/4 x 4" Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

Endings 6x6#17

Not to spoil the ending, but everything is going to be okay. My other favorite is, this too shall pass. No matter how difficult life may seem we must never lose hope. There is light at the end of the tunnel...and the list continues. What is your favorite?

Stamps:
   Letter Board Messages

Paper:
   Sweet Sugarplum A-2
   Playful Palette DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Very Vanilla 2-7/8" Sq.
   Basic Black 3" Sq.
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Peekaboo Peach
   Emerald Envy
   Sweet Sugarplum

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Layering Squares Framelits Dies
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

This card used Layout #8:

This is card 17 out of 30 using the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper. Note that this layout yields paper for two more cards.

First, I adhered the Playful Palette DSP panel onto the card front.

I then stamped my frame and sentiment onto the Very Vanilla Square. It is best to stamp on a larger piece of Very Vanilla and then die cut it to size. This way you are sure to center it.

I then adhered it to a Basic Black square. This was attached to the card using dimensionals.

The Whisper White panel was adhered to the inside of the card.

You can see all 30 cards at Merla's No Left-Over DSP Layouts.

Hoppy Frog

Here is a great layout to use up some of those designer series paper (DSP) scraps. Basically, you can choose any shape you like and arrange the pieces behind your focal point. I chose a 1-1/4" square for mine.

Stamps:
   Very Punny

Paper:
   Garden Green A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside), 1/4" Sq.
Motley Monsters DSP 1-1/4" Sq. (8), 1-3/8" Sq.

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Markers:
   Basic Black
   Garden Green
   Daffodil Delight

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Adhesive

My DSP is double sided so I can easily flip it over and the colors will blend and work together.

When you make your own cards, there is nothing set in stone. Your focal point and sentiment can easily be changed to meet your present need. I made this one for a challenge that asked us to use a pun on our cards. Thus, "Hoppy for you!" was born.

Thank you so much for stopping by here and taking a peek. Let me know if you have any questions or need any SU supplies.

OSW #2 Poppy Life

Waste not, want not. I used the three squares that were die cut from the first panel to design this card front. This is card 2 out of 13, using one sheet of 12 x 12 DSP. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Peaceful Moments

Paper:
   Crushed Curry A-2
   Old Olive 1-5/8" Sq. (3)
Peaceful Poppies DSP 1-1/2" Sq. (3)

Ink:
   Poppy Parade

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Layering Squares Framelits Dies

   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Nature's Twine - Blackberry Bliss
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

The two outer squares are attached using dimensionals.

Here is the one sheet wonder template I used.

Thank you for dropping by here and taking a peek.

OSW #1 Poppy Friend

Send well wishes and brighten up your friend's day with these beautiful poppies. I like to use up every single piece of designer series paper (DSP). So, I was able to get 13 cards out of one 12 x 12 sheet. Here is the first one:

Stamps:
   Itty Bitty Greetings

Paper:
   Whisper White A-2
Peaceful Poppies DSP 5-1/2 x 4 with three 1-1/2" squares die cut on the right side

Ink:
   Poppy Parade

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Layering Squares Framelits Dies
   Peaceful Poppies Elements
   Peaceful Poppies Sequins
   Dimensionals
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

Note: by die cutting the squares on the right, I now have 3 pieces of DSP to use on a second card. If you do not want to do this, you can easily cut three 1-1/2 inch squares and glue them onto the card front.

I did use a stamparatus to position my words precisely where I wanted them. You can use a MISTI or a stamp-a-ma-jig. All of these tools can offer the same result.

Here is the template for the 13 cards.

I will be blogging each card individually. I hope to bring everything together in a final entry or video.

Thank you for dropping by here. I appreciate your time and feedback. Let me know what you think.
