Brad Cares

Do you remember your wood mounted stamps and discontinued designer series paper? What about those embellishments known as brads? Yup, I'm trying to dust off and show some love to those set aside, but not forgotten goodies. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Thoughts & Prayers

Paper:
   Pretty in Pink A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8, 4-1/2 x 3-1/8
   Tea Party DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside), 4-3/4 x 3-1/2

   So Saffron

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Sponging

Accessories:
   Brads - Subtles
   Stitched Rectangle Framelits Dies
   Sponge
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the tree and the sentiment on the Basic White panel, using Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I then die cut the panel, using the Stitched Rectangle Framelits Dies.

Next, I added some So Saffron ink to all of the edges, using a sponge. You can use a Blending Brush to do this step as well. It will look a little different, but serves the same purpose.

I then added some subtle pink brads to the flowers on the tree.

Next, I attached this panel onto a Basic Black matte. I set it aside for a bit while I put the base of the card together.

I then adhered the DSP panel to a Basic Black Matte, and then onto the Pretty in Pink card front.

Next, I attached the stamped panel, using dimensionals.

Lastly, I adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

More Leaves

These cards show the difference between placing ink on the front or the back flap of an embossing folder. Which do you like best? Do you like the color that shows on the leaves or behind the leaves? Read on to find out which flap should be colored.

Stamps:
   Teeny Tiny Wishes

Paper:
   Dusty Durango A-2, Scraps
   More Mustard A-2, Scraps
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8 (2)
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (4)

Ink:
   Dusty Durango
   More Mustard
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Technique:
   Dry Embossing with Ink
   Punching

Accessories:
   Double Oval Punch
   Leaf Punch
   Fern 3D Embossing Folder
   Open Leaf Trinkets
   In Good Taste Elements
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Glue Dots
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

Every time I decide to play with this technique, I forget which flap of the embossing folder to ink. So, I decided to make a card showing the effect of both sides.

I consider the front flap to be the one facing me, or the top one, when I hold the embossing folder closed with the Stampin' Up! logo in the front where I can read it.

First, I inked up the front or top flap with More Mustard. I carefully placed the Basic White panel inside and ran it through the embossing machine. The ink colored the background, with the fern leaves staying white, as shown in the picture above. More Mustard is the card on the right.

Then I washed and dried the folder.

Next, I inked up the back or bottom flap with Dusty Durango. I carefully placed the Basic White panel inside and ran it through the embossing machine. The ink colored the fern leaves and left the background white, as shown in the picture above. Dusty Durango is the card on the left.

Personally, I like the ink on the background.

I then matted each of these panels with a Basic Black matte and adhered them to their matching card fronts.

Next, I took scraps of Dusty Durango and More Mustard. I punched out ovals, using the Double Oval Punch.

I then stamped a sentiment in each of the small ovals and adhered them to a scalloped oval, as shown above. I added More Mustard to a Dusty Durango and a Dusty Durango to a More Mustard. I attached them to the card front, using dimensionals.

Next, I punched out a leaf in each color, using the Leaf Punch, and adhered them as shown above.

I then added a wooden leaf and an open leaf trinket to each card with some glue dots.

Lastly, I added a few Basic Pearl Jewels and adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of each card.

Birthday Roses

I used Black and White on a River Rock. Silly, I know. Black ink, white leaves on a window sheet, and all on a card base, whose color is known as "River Rock." Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Stippled Roses
   Go To Greetings

Paper:
   River Rock A-2
Naturally Eclectic Card Overlays 1/2 sheet
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Black Glitter Washi Tape
   Black Rhinestone Jewels
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

First, I cut a sheet of the Naturally Eclectic Card Overlay in half. This will make two cards!

I then laid the overlay on top of the River Rock card front, to know where to stamp my sentiment. I made a tiny pencil mark to guide me.

Next, I removed the overlay and stamped my sentiment, using Tuxedo Black Memento ink. I also stamped two roses on the bottom part of the card front. If you are nervous about stamping, you can use a Stamparatus, Stamp-a-ma-jig, or a MISTI to get perfect placement.

I then added glue dots behind a few of the white leaves on the overlay and adhered it to the top of the River Rock card front.

Next, I added a strip of Black Glitter Washi Tape to help hold the overlay in place and to hide the seam.

Lastly, I added a couple of Black Rhinestone Jewels and adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.
