Real Tree Cards

Masculine cards have proven to be a bit challenging to create. Mostly, because the images and designer papers are targeted toward women and children. Still, once in a while, I come across a "manly" paper. This one was gifted to me. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Kindness & Compassion
   So Sentimental

Paper:
   Basic White
   Crumb Cake
   Early Espresso
   Garden Green
   Smoky Slate
   Soft Suede
   Real Tree Printed Paper

Ink:
   Garden Green
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Stitched Shapes Framelits
   Stitched So Sweetly Dies
   Dimensionals
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

First, I cut the Real Tree printed paper to see how many 5-1/4 x 4" panels I could get.

I then adhered the panel onto a Basic Black Matte: 5-3/8 x 4-1/8.

Next, I chose the sentiment stamp that I would use on each card. I needed thank you cards, but wanted them to all be different. The sentiments came from the two stamp sets listed above.

I then decided on a die cut or frame for each sentiment.

Next, I chose a color to accent on each card.

I then stamped and die cut the sentiments for each one, and added the panel to a matching card front. The papers I chose are listed above.

I then attached the sentiment to each card, using dimensionals, glue dots, or adhesive. The Natural Linen Ribbon was attached with glue dots.

Lastly, I added a Basic White panel, 5-1/4 x 4, to the inside of each card.

Fresh Thank You

Beautifully designed paper yields a beautiful card. Just add you sentiment using one of the colors on the DSP or a neutral color of your choice. I like to sponge it with a lighter color, also found in the DSP. I then use this same color as the card base bringing the whole card together. What do you think?

Stamps:
   So Sentimental

Paper:
   Blushing Bride A-2
   Petal Promenade DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4, 2-1/2 x 3

Ink:
   Blushing Bride
   Fresh Fig

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Sponging

Accessories:
   Stitched So Sweetly Dies
   Sponge
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

Note that the sentiment can be changed to suit your needs.

Patina Hugs

This technique offers a masculine look and feel to a card. I say this only because patina is the greenish or brownish tint on metal caused by oxidation over time. Although most things are no longer gender specific, I still associate metal with men. I'm not even sure why because I have handled plenty of tire irons in my day. Anyway, I do like this background displaying a faux patina technique. What do you think?

Stamps:
   So Sentimental

Paper:
   Marina Mist A-2
   Always Artichoke 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2), 2-1/4 x 2

Ink:
   Crumb Cake
   Marina Mist
   Always Artichoke
   Early Espresso
   Merry Merlot

Technique:
   Faux Patina
   Sponging
   Die Cuttting

Accessories:
   Stitched So Sweetly Dies
Swirls & Curls Textured Embossing Folder
   Metallic Pearls
   Sponge
   Gold Embossing Powder
   VersaMark
   Embossing Buddy
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

There is a tutorial for the Faux Patina technique. You can find it HERE.

I did use this technique exactly as directed. I even used the same colors that were suggested.

The die cutting and sponging were done on the tag.

Bunny Hugs

COVID-19 has hopped its way from China to the USA. We are all having to practice social-distancing, and our society as we know it is undergoing massive change. Here is a clean and simple card to send to anyone who is not feeling well at the moment. Go ahead and snail-mail someone special.

Stamps:
   So Sentimental
   Nature's Beauty

Paper:
   Balmy Blue A-2
   Purple Posy 2-1/4 x 3-1/4
   Soft Sea Foam 1-1/2 x 2

Ink:
   Highland Heather

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Dry Embossing

Accessories:
   Coastal Weave 3-D Embossing Folder
   Stitched So Sweetly Dies
   Gingham Gala Sequins
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

The bunny is stamped on a Soft Sea Foam card stock. So, it has a greenish tint to it, not this yellowish tint. The bunny is adhered with dimensionals.

You do want to spritz your card stock with a bit of water before running it through your die cutting machine. This will loosen the paper fibers and prevent tearing.

Thank you so much for stopping by here. Please leave your thoughts and questions.

Today & Always

Flowers will always bring a smile to a person's face. The beautiful scent and delicate structure will soothe anyone's temperament. Why else are flowers suitable for every occasion? There is nothing that tops nature's beauty.

Stamps:
   So Sentimental

Paper:
   Calypso Coral A-2
   Garden Impressions DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Vellum 4 x 3
   Whisper White 4 x 3

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Stitched So Sweetly Dies
   Corner Rounder Punch
   Pink Brads
   Fast Fuse
   Adhesive

I used vellum not only to add a softness to the card, but to also separate the sentiment from the floral background. I think rounding out the corners also added soft lines to the design.

The sentiment can easily be switched out to suit your present need: sympathy, birthday, mother's day, get well, etc.

Thank you for stopping by here. Let me know what you think. I appreciate your time and attention.
