Sailing

Kits seem to be all the rage today. Is it easy, convenient, and affordable? Possibly, but I'm still leaning toward putting my own spin on everything. What do you think?

Sailing

Stamps:
   None

Paper:
   Lost Lagoon A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Going Places DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   None

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Something for Everything Ephemera Pack
   Saying Something Ephemera Pack
   Labels & Layers Ephemera Pack
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I chose the pieces I wanted to use for my card from the various Ephemera Packs. I decided that the sailboat went nicely with "smooth sailing & sunny skies." I also needed to make a masculine birthday card. So, I chose a Happy Birthday.

I then found this sheet of designer paper where the lines reminded me of the water movement in an ocean. So, I arranged the pieces on the panel and attached them, using dimensionals and adhesive.

Next, I adhered the panel to a Basic Black matte and then added it to a Lost Lagoon card front.

Lastly, I adhered a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.

I made the same card, using a card base from the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes.

Sailing Too

What do you think? I like my added layers. I'm going to create a few more before I decide, but I guess my creativity bug keeps screaming for uniqueness.

Photograph

I like the faux vintage photo technique. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   Guy Greetings

Paper:
   Pecan Pie A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8, 2-5/8 x 3-5/8
   Going Places DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Glossy White 2-1/2 x 3-1/2
   Basic White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Pecan Pie
   Crumb Cake
   Cinnamon Cider
   Jet Black StazOn

Technique:
   Faux Vintage Photos

Accessories:
   Antique Corners & Sliders
   Masking Paper
   Sponge
   Tissue
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

First, I masked about 1/4" on all four sides of a glossy white panel, using Masking Paper. This created the border around the photograph.

I then stamped my image, using Jet Black StazOn ink. Allowed the ink to dry.

Next, I sponged on shades of browns. I used Crumb Cake, Cinnamon Cider, and Pecan Pie.

Let the panel dry completely.

I then wiped the panel with a bit of tissue to pick up any ink before it smudged.

Next, I carefully removed the masking paper. I left the border as is, but you can deckle the edges, tear it, or add a few spots. I added some photo corners from my stash, using a glue dot for each one.

I then adhered it to a Basic Black matte.

I adhered the Going Places DSP panel onto a Basic Black matte, and then onto a Pecan Pie card front.

Next, I added the vintage photo panel onto the top half of the card front. I used liquid adhesive, but you can also use dimensionals or your favorite adhesive.

I then stamped the sentiment on the lower half of the card front. I stamped directly onto the DSP, but you can also choose to add a tag or decorative die cut. I did not want to draw the attention away from the photograph.

Lastly, I added a Basic White panel to the inside of the card.
