Distress Tree

Watercolor can make everyone feel like an artist. There are no mistakes. Here is a watercolor background I made to feature a gorgeous silhouette of a tree. I would so enjoy sitting under this tree reading a book or just having a picnic lunch with the family. What would you do?

Stamps:
   Rooted in Nature

Paper:
   Tangelo Twist A-2
   Basic Black 5-1/4 x 4
   Shimmery White 5 x 3-3/4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Tuxedo Black Memento

Distress Ink:
   Stormy Sky
   Spiced Marmalade
   Mustard Seed
   Ground Espresso

Technique:
   Watercolor
   Distress Inks

Accessories:
   Water Spritzer (Mister)
   Adhesive

There are several ways to watercolor with distress inks. The inks react with water. If you are a patient person, you can even layer colors, making sure you limit them to two or three. Otherwise, you might create mud.

I added my colors onto my non-stick mat, making sure to keep them separate. I then spritzed the ink with water until tiny beads formed. I spritzed my shimmery white panel as well. I then carefully laid my panel onto my colors, letting it soak up the color. You do not want to wiggle or move the paper.

I then carefully lifted it up. I dabbed at the edges a bit where the ink was forming tiny puddles. I then left it to air dry. You can use a heat tool to speed up the drying process if you wish.

Once my panel was dry, I stamped my tree and sentiment using Tuxedo Black Memento.

I adhered the shimmery white panel onto the Basic Black and then onto the Tangelo Twist card base. The Whisper White panel was adhered to the inside of the card.

Eclectic Friend

This two-step stamp set gives you a watercolor effect. One step shows the outline, and the other step fills the image with color, spilling a bit over the edges. I do like the Basic Black on the Kraft. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Oh So Eclectic

Paper:
   Basic Black 5-1/2 x 4-1/4
   Kraft 8 x 5-1/4 scored @ 4
   Whisper White 5 x 3-3/4

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Technique:
   2-Step Stamping
   CAS
   Stamp-Off

Accessories:
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the outline of the flowers and leaves on the bottom half of the folded Kraft panel.

Second, I added the color. In this case, I kept the color as black. I did stamp-off the color before applying it to my image.

The Basic Black panel serves only as a backing to the Kraft card. The Whisper White panel is for the inside of the card.

Sunburst Sympathy

Bringing your stamp sets together to create a fresh new idea is the ultimate joy. Not only because you know you are making use of all that you have invested, but because it will be unique. Sunshine shining on flowers is a wonderful image to convey your condolences. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Rose Wonder
   Kinda Eclectic
   Just Believe

Paper:
   Mossy Meadow A-2
   All ABloom DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White Scraps, 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Blushing Bride
   Daffodil Delight
   Mossy Meadow

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Punching

Accessories:
   Rose Garden Thinlits Dies
   Sunburst Framelits Dies
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   1-1/4" Circle Punch
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped my sun's rays using a stamp from Kinda Eclectic and Daffodil Delight ink. I stamped on a scrap of Whisper White and then die cut it using the Sunburst Framelits Dies.

Next, I used a stamp from Just Believe to create the center of the sun. I used Blushing Bride ink and punched it out with the 1-1/4" circle punch. This was adhered to the sun's rays using dimensionals.

I then stamped my sentiment with Mossy Meadow and a stamp from Rose Wonder. I then die cut it using the Rose Garden thinlits dies.  This was also adhered using dimensionals.

I then adhered the DSP panel to the Mossy Meadow card front. The sun's rays and the sentiment are attached with dimensionals. I adhered the 5-1/4 x 4" Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

Quiet Life

Do you remember when you had a yard for playing, no privacy fence, and your closest neighbor was one of your best friends? Life was simple with less stress. When I first saw this image of a cozy cottage it brought back memories of outdoor fun with the neighborhood playing football, red-rover, or just plain tag. There were no bumps on the street, and it was safe to be outside with everyone. What is your favorite memory?

Stamps:
   Cozy Cottage

Paper:
   Flirty Flamingo A-2
   Basic Black 5-1/4 x 4
   Glossy White 5 x 3-3/4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Brushos:
   Moss Green
   Yellow
   Prussian Blue
   Brilliant Red

Ink:
   Jet Black StazOn
   Old Olive

Technique:
   Watercolor

Accessories:
   Water Spritzer (Mister)
   Aqua Painter
   Adhesive

First, I spritzed my glossy paper with water. I sprinkled brusho flakes on it, and added more water. I dabbed here and there with a paper towel if it needed it. I repeated the process as often as I needed, until I was "happy". I then set it off to the side to dry.

Once it was dry, I used my old olive to fill in the extra white spaces on the bottom of the card. I used my aqua painter for this. I set the panel aside to dry again. (You can use a heat tool to speed the drying time if you want.)

I then inked up my cottage with Jet Black StazOn and stamped it on my panel.

I added the brick fence toward the bottom of the card.

I chose to leave the card without a sentiment, so that it can be used for any occasion. A sentiment can always be added before sending it.

Lastly, I adhered the layers on the card front, and the Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

Classic Birthday Ribbon

Masculine cards are not all that easy to conjure up when you are in a hurry. Here is a clean and simple card for a classy guy. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Guy Greetings
   Timeless Textures

Paper:
   Blackberry Bliss A-2
   So Saffron DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5 x 3-3/4, 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Blackberry Bliss
   Bermuda Bay
   So Saffron

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
1/2" Bermuda Bay Grosgrain Polka Dot Ribbon
   Fast Fuse
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the car, using Blackberry Bliss and an image from Guy Greetings.

I then stamped the roadway or ground using So Saffron and a stamp from Timeless Textures.

I added the Bermuda Bay sky using a different stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set. Note that I stamped around the car and never directly on the car.

I then stamped my sentiment with Blackberry Bliss. This sentiment can be changed to suit your current need.

I then adhered ribbon to the bottom of the Whisper White panel. I used fast fuse to adhere it.

I then adhered the layers onto the card front, and the 5-1/4 x 4 Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

Birds on a Wire

Why do birds of a feather flock together? Who cares? If they are not flying, they are standing on a wire. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Swirly Bird
   Watercolor Wash
   Work of Art
   Happy Everything

Paper:
   Dapper Denim A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Soft Sky
   Tuxedo Black Memento
   Dapper Denim

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Adhesive

First, I stamped my background sky using Soft Sky ink and the Watercolor Wash Background Stamp.

Next, I stamped the wire. I used a stamp from the Work of Art stamp set together with Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

I then grabbed my Swirly Bird stamp set and used the bird to stamp them on the wire. I used Dapper Denim ink to match my card base.

Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink. I used stamps from the Happy Everything stamp set.

I then adhered the stamped panel to the front of the card base, and the other panel to the inside of the card.

Healing Rose

A rose conveys so many meanings filled with emotion: love, friendship, hope, joy, congratulations, condolences, and the list is endless. These red roses are sent with love and hope.

Stamps:
   Healing Hugs

Paper:
   Whisper White A-2, 5-1/4 x 4
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Lovely Lipstick
   Garden Green

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Adhesive

This card is made with your basic 4 ingredients: stamps, ink, paper, and love. Three of the ingredients are visible for everyone to see, the fourth is seen and felt by the recipient. What do you think?

I stamped everything directly onto the Whisper White panel.

First, I stamped my sentiment.

Next, I stamped the roses, scattered through the card front. This is a distINKtive stamp set, meaning the saturation levels of ink (light and dark areas) appear magically by the stamp and the way it is made. Love that it makes me look like a real artist!

Lastly, I stamped the green leaves around the roses, and adhered the layers together.

Red Palette

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Cupid is at the ready and Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Just in case you do not express it often enough, here is a card to say, "I JUST LOVE YOU."

Stamps:
   Petal Palette

Paper:
   Powder Pink A-2, Scraps
   Cerise DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Very Vanilla Scrap
   Silver Glimmer 1 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink & Markers:
   Archival Basic Black
   Real Red

Technique:
   Die Cutting

Accessories:
   Petals & More Thinlits Dies
   Stitched Labels Framelits Dies
   Basic Rhinestone Jewels
   Dimensionals
   Fine Tip Glue Pen
   Adhesive

First, I cut my designer series paper and adhered it to the card front using my favorite adhesive. All of the other items and images are die cuts.

Next, I stamped and die cut my sentiment. To get the word love in red you have two options.
    1. You can ink up the sentiment with black. Take a blender pen and wipe off the black ink from the word love. Use a red marker to ink it. Activate the ink with your breath and stamp on a scrap of Very Vanilla. Center it on the die cut and run it through the die cut machine.
    2. Take a black marker and color in I, JUST, YOU. Take a red marker and color in LOVE. Activate the ink with your breath. Stamp and die cut it. It is adhered to the card front using dimensionals.
    FYI: I did option 2.

Then I stamped my roses and bird on scraps of Powder Pink. I then die cut them and adhered them using dimensionals.

I cut a 1 x 4 piece of silver glimmer paper and die cut it. It is adhered using the fine tip glue pen.

Lastly, I added rhinestones to the center of the roses, and I adhered the Whisper White panel to the inside of the card. You may choose to use a Very Vanilla panel for the inside to match the outside. This is a personal choice.

You Amaze Me

There are times when a picture says it all. Here is Mother Nature in all of her beauty.

Stamps:
   Crazy About You
   Perfectly Wrapped

Paper:
   Crumb Cake A-2
   Serene Scenery DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Gold Glimmer Scrap
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Itty Bitty Accents Punch
   Mini Glue Dot
   Adhesive

There are those special moments when we need to let others know just how amazing they are.

This designer series paper is beautiful all by itself. I used a stamp from Crazy About You and encircled it with another stamp from Perfectly Wrapped.

I then added tiny pearls around the dotted circle.

Lastly, I punched out a gold star using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch and adhered it with a mini glue dot.

I adhered the DSP panel to the card base and added a Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

Waffle Christmas

The gold waffle paper together with the Cherry Cobbler Eyelet Border adorns the sentiment beautifully on this Christmas card. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Christ Is Born
   Four the Holidays
   Hang Your Stocking

Paper:
   Very Vanilla A-2
   Cherry Cobbler 3/4 x 4-1/4

Ink:
   Cherry Cobbler
   Archival Basic Black
   Versa Mark

Technique:
   Heat Embossing
   Punching

Accessories:
   Gold Waffle Paper
   2-1/2" Circle Punch
   Stamp-a-ma-jig/Stamparatus/MISTI
   Basic Rhinestone Jewels
   Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder
   Eyelet Border Punch
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

First, I punched out the 2-1/2" Circle on the top-center of the card front. I lightly traced the circle on the bottom panel to help center the flower when stamping.

I then stamped the poinsettia with Versa Mark, covered it with Cherry Cobbler Embossing Powder, and heat embossed it.

Next, I used the Eyelet Border Punch on the Cherry Cobbler piece. I punched two borders. I then adhered waffle paper on the bottom of the eyelet border as shown in the picture.

The bottom border was adhered to the card base first. I then stamped the sentiment and the tiny poinsettias around the punched circle and the sentiment.

I then adhered the top border. I added tiny rhinestones to the tiny poinsettias.

I found a small wreath that was sitting in my crafty supplies. I decided to adhere it to the center of the large poinsettia with a couple of glue dots.

Here is another look at the card:
