Out on a Limb

I made this background by combining distress inks and water. I applied the ink on my mat, spritzed with water and then pulled it up with my paper. I dabbed it with a paper towel where needed. I then set it aside to dry. As with any watercolor background, each will be unique.

   Rose Wonder
   Moon Lake
   Wonderfully Worn

   Whisper White A-2, 5 x 3-3/4
   Basic Black 5-1/4 x 4

   Archival Basic Black

Distress Inks:
   Stormy Sky
   Dried Marigold
   Frayed Burlap
   Forest Moss

   Distress Inks

   Water Spritzer (Mister)
   Paper Towel
   Heat Tool (Optional)
If you need your background immediately, you can dry it with a heat tool. Do be careful not to burn the paper.

  1. Your background looks fabulous, Sally! Lovely card!

  2. Wonderful image for that gorgeous BG Sally!

  3. Love the background. That's one thing I don't spend enough time doing - creating more elaborate backgrounds!

    1. I always seem to make several in one sitting, trying different color combinations. Sometimes I am not happy with it, but if I let it sit a few days I begin to like it and will find a use for it...or I cut it up and use parts. It is nice to have backgrounds at the ready.
