Thinking Tree

 I use my sponge brayer whenever I want to create a soft, blended background for my images. It does take longer to add the color, but it adds it slowly. This gives you more time to evaluate your panel. I blended three colors onto this panel. What do you think?

   Only Orange 5-3/8 x 4-1/8

Ink:

   Not Quite Navy

   Only Orange

   YoYo Yellow

   Archival Basic Black

Technique:

   Sponge Brayer

Accessories:

   Adhesive

First, I applied the Not Quite Navy ink using my sponge brayer. 

I then added the Only Orange to the middle of the panel. 

I turned my panel and added the YoYo Yellow on the opposite side. 

Lastly, I stamped my image and my sentiment. It is best to use a Stamparatus or MISTI. This is the only way to get a darker and sharper image. I stamped mine only once, and I think it is a bit pale.

Fun Snowflake

 Make your card interesting by creating fun folds. This card uses a gate fold. The two panels open outward from the middle, just like a double gate.

Stamps:

   Snow Wonder

Paper:

   Highland Heather 4-1/4 x 8-1/2 scored at 2-1/8 from both ends

   Snowflake Splendor DSP 1-7/8 x 4 (2)

Ink:

   Pacific Point

Technique:

   Gate Fold Card

Accessories:

   Wooden Snowflake Elements

   Foil Snowflake

   Glue Dots

   Adhesive

There is a tutorial for this fold on SplitCoast Stampers. You can find it HERE. I tweaked it just a bit.

The foil snowflake is from my stash. These have been discontinued, but I have to use what I have on hand. I added a wooden snowflake to add a bit of weight to the gate. 

I also stamped a couple of trees to the inside or the right gate. Have a look.

Of course, you can also get more elaborate and adorn the inside of the card a bit more. I like to keep things simple. What do you think?

Just for You

 I tend to never throw anything away, including the leftover pieces of designer or patterned paper. The background for this gnome was pieced together from leftovers. It reminds me of wall paper. Just like the time when you tried to piece the pattern together on the wall, but if you looked closely, you could see the seam. I wanted this pattern, but didn't have a large enough piece left, so... What do you think? Did it work?

I printed the gnome image and colored it with watercolor pencils. I then used a blender pen to blend in the color.

I added the sentiment with a bit of hardware. It helps to draw the attention to the sentiment on the busy background. I adhered the sentiment with adhesive and then added the hardware with the brads.

Look

 Create new scenes by combining stamps from different sets. I used stamps from three different sets to create this card. Believe it or not, the lady and girl holding hands is an image from "Beautiful Moments." The man holding his daughter is from "A Good Man." I think they work well together here, forming a family. The scenic elements are from "Waterfront." Thoughts?

The mountains, land masses, and ocean are all stamped two or more times before re-inking. So, you are stamping-off, but on the card front to create the image.

I made a mask of the family first by stamping on a couple of post-it notes and cutting them out. You can also just stamp on regular paper and dab the back with temporary adhesive. I used yellow post-it notes so that I could see them easily. 

I then stamped the family on my card front, masked them, and then proceeded to build the scene around them. Here is a picture with the mask on the family.

You do want to be careful when you are stamping. My mask came off and stuck to the stamp at the end of my stamping. I did not notice, until I had stamped again. Oops...Makes it a unique card. The flaws make the cards special. Agree?

As you can see, I started with the mountains. Next, I stamped the land masses at the base of the mountains. Lastly, I stamped the water between land.

I then removed the masks and colored the images with markers. You can use any medium you have on hand.

Friendship Vines

 Creating an ombre effect behind the vines was a wonderful choice. I also added just a hint of lace using pieces of a paper doily on two of the corners. I kept the card simple by adding a small greeting in the middle. What do you think?

First, I took a panel of Irresistibly Yours DSP and created an ombre effect using my sponge brayer.

I started with the Midnight Muse and sponged from the top toward the middle. I stopped about a third of the way down. 

Then I applied the Marina Mist from the middle up and down a bit.

Lastly, I sponged the Soft Sky from the bottom toward the middle. Mainly, I wanted to make sure the colors blended together. 

I then wiped down the panel with a paper towel. This removes the ink from the embossed vines.

I then adhered a piece of white paper doily to two opposite corner, and added a greeting to the center of the card. I did not want to cover the background.

Healing Melody

 Masking is a technique used in card making to highlight an image or keep it clear of other markings. Here you can see the red rose stands out. Not only is it a different color, but there are no markings on it. It is in front of all of the other roses and leaves. Take a look.

First, I made a mask for the rose. I stamped the rose on a post-it note and cut it out.

I then stamped my rose on my Whisper White panel, and covered it completely with the post-it note. (This is the mask.)

I then stamped the other roses and leaves.

I stamped and die cut the oval sentiment. 

I adhered the black strip and added the sentiment using dimensionals.

Sweet Inspiration

 Are you craving the metallic look? Try using no stamps and no ink. Instead just use die cuts and embellishments. How cool is this? Get creative with any of your die cuts and metallic papers. Change the color of your background and get an entirely different look and feel. What do you think?

First, I die cut the dandelions and the sentiment.

I grabbed the chicken wire and dabbed liquid glue on the back of it. (I set it on my silicone craft sheet and sponged liquid glue. I then adhered it onto my Basic Black card base.)

I then added a bit of washi tape to the bottom right corner and adhered the sentiment on top of it. 

Next, I added the dandelions using dimensionals, and kept the stems down with a glue dot. The twine is also added with a glue dot and helps to hide the dots. 

The iridescent pearls are hard to see, but they are dotting the I's in the sentiment.

Chocolate Cupcake

 One candle and one cupcake for any age. When your age should be kept a secret, or the number might start a huge fire, it is best to revert back to that first birthday and have just one candle and one small bite. Of course, if you are going to indulge go for what you love and crave the most. Mine in CHOCOLATE! What's yours?

So, to highlight this delicious cupcake, I doodled a frame around it and blackened it with a black marker. I know it looks like a five year old did this, but in reality I did. I think a five year old could probably do a better job. Still, it is a unique card that has its own character.

Rainbow Feathers

 Feathers are beautiful and unique. They may have the same shape, but will vary in color and texture. Back in the day, a feather was used as a writing utensil. They would sharpen the quill and dip it in ink to write. I dipped these feathers in the colors of the rainbow. I also added a bit of glitter, but it is difficult to see it in the photo.

I listed the ink colors in the order that I applied them. Remember to clean the stamp between each color.

I have accumulated several colors, so some of the colors may be discontinued. If you choose to duplicate this card, just use the colors of the rainbow that you own.

I added the sentiment using Concord Crush ink, and then added the gold sequins to balance it out.

Peaceful Meadow

 Do not look too closely, or you might see all of the things that are out of place. This is a stamp set with many images that you piece together to create your own scene. Unfortunately, my mind's eye is usually inaccurate. Without a picture, I have a difficult time picturing the scene. I did the best that I could. I'll have to practice and play more with this stamp set. Any thoughts or advise?
