Birthday Tree

Neutral earth tones make a beautiful masculine card for any occasion. I chose to make this one a birthday card. No added accessories are necessary. Of course, you can add brads, ribbon, even some washi tape if you want. I prefer the simplistic look. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Lovely as a Tree
   Bring on the Cake

Paper:
   Crumb Cake A-2
   Chocolate Chip 3-1/4" Sq.
   Watercolor 3" Sq.
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Pool Party
   Daffodil Delight
   Crumb Cake
   Archival Basic Black

Markers:
   Garden Green
   Chocolate Chip

Technique:
   Watercolor
   Markering (Color on Stamp)

Accessories:
   Aqua Painter
   Adhesive

I began with my 3" watercolor square. Using my aqua painter, I added Pool Party to the top of it.

I then added some Daffodil Delight. It bled right on top of the Pool Party, but you can still see it in the background.

I then added the Crumb Cake to the bottom. I did my best to not have a straight edge where the ground and the sky meet.

Once the background dried, I stamped my tree. I used a technique called "Markering." Basically, I colored the stamp with my markers. Then I breathed on it to reactivate the ink, and then I stamped it.

I then adhered it to the Chocolate Chip square and then onto the card base.

I stamped the sentiment on the card front, and adhered the Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.

  1. Great image. I need to look for a better tree image. I missed out on getting this one before it retired. Super birthday card for anyone.
