The Best Ever

 It is very easy to create your own background with your stamps. Choose one or two stamps and colors, and then randomly stamp them as a background for your focal image or sentiment. Use the same colors for your card base, embellishments, and panels. What do you think of this one?

I accidentally dropped my stamp. This is why one of the images looks blurry. I also hurried and did not press hard enough to get a good impression on one of the stamps. You can see these as mistakes for not being careful and in a hurry, or see them as the imperfections that make this card unique.

Golden Bees

 Congratulate someone with a bit of gold. I like this designer paper with some busy bees and golden highlights. The back is plain black and white stripes. The panel on the left is flipped from the busy bees to the stripes. I like using double sided designer paper because both sides coordinate well together. What do you think?

First, I took one of the Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4" panels and adhered the 2 sections of DSP with the strip of gold foil between them. I then adhered this panel to the Basic Black card base. The other Whisper White panel was adhered to the inside of the card.

Next, I stamped and punched out the 2" circle for the front. I colored it using my markers and added a golden gem to the middle of it. I attached it using dimensionals.

I then stamped my sentiment on a strip of Whisper White and adhered it with liquid adhesive.

Teacher Frame

 Teachers are role models who have a deep and lasting effect on their students. There are teachers who come to mind easily for various reasons, and there are teachers that are never mentioned. What should be realized is that each teacher will impact each student differently each day. Here is a card for the one teacher that stands apart from all of the others.

First, I stamped my apple on the 3-1/4 x 4 Whisper White cardstock. 

I punched it out with the Apple Builder Punch and colored it with my markers.

I adhered the leaf and stem with glue dots.

I then stamped my frame on the 5-1/4 x 4 Whisper White panel and stamped the sentiment on the top center of it. 

I rounded the edges with my corner rounder punch.

I adhered it to the card base. 

I then added the candy dots to the corners of the frame and attached the apple using dimensionals.

The other Whisper White panel is for the inside of the card.

Butterfly Hugs

 Brusho Crystal Colours show the fluidity of water. These flakes are easy to apply and give you reason to react with plenty of oohs and aahs. Here is my card using my unique background. What do you think?

To create with Brushos:

   Sprinkle the flakes on watercolor paper

   Spray with water

   Tilt your paper 

   Dab with a paper towel 

   Repeat any of the above steps

Continue the process until you are happy with your unique background. 

The only thing to be careful with is the mixing of colors. If you mix too many colors, you will end up with a muddy sight. 

I chose to add a rectangle of fabric and an oval sentiment to my card front.

Weathered Friends

 I do not know what it is about rain that affects my mood. It could be the sound, the smell, the fresh clean look, or the coolness. No matter the reason, the effect is my calm, somber mood of reflection. I also like watching the rain fall past my window. Such is the inspiration for this card.

First, I die cut the window frame. I placed it on my card front, and penciled in the corners of the panes. This way, I could stamp my raindrops within the panes and not outside of the window frame.

Next, I stamped and punched out my umbrella. I colored it in with my markers.

I then adhered the window frame and stamped the boots and sentiment. I colored the boots using my markers.

I attached the umbrella with dimensionals and added a few clear epoxy raindrop shapes.

Lastly, I adhered the card front to the Pool Party panel and then onto the card base. The other Whisper White panel is adhered to the inside of the card.

Thanks Sunflower

 Slimline cards fit a regular business envelope. Using this different size makes you think differently to get it adorned, balanced and just right. I used a few wooden elements to help balance and embellish the card. I used some beautiful Fall colors. What do you think?

First, I stamped, colored, and die cut my sunflower. 

Next, I cut my card base and adhered the DSP on the front and the Whisper White panel on the inside. I left the inside blank for the message the sender will write. You can easily add a watermark or stamped image to the top, bottom, or corner.

I stamped, and punched out my sentiment. I sponged the edges and attached it using dimensionals.

I then attached the sunflower using dimensionals as well. 

Lastly, I chose three wooden leaf elements to fill the gaps on the card. I like the natural look of the wood, but these can also be colored with a marker. These were adhered with glue dots.

Your Way

 This smacking acetate technique will give you an original card every time. It is very similar to the clear block stamping technique. The difference is that you add your ink to an acetate sheet instead of a clear block. I found that the acetate sheet seems to lighten the color a bit more. This could be due to the weight of the sheet vs. the weight of the clear block. I am guessing. Both techniques yield amazing results. Here is the smacking acetate result. What are your thoughts?

   Smackin' Acetate

Accessories:

   Acetate Sheet

   Water Spritzer

   Adhesive

To create this smacking acetate background you place ink on an acetate sheet. (A transparency sheet works the same.) 

Spritz the ink with water. (Spray bottle is the same as a spritz bottle.) 

Place the sheet onto a Whisper White panel and press on it with your fingers to move the ink around. 

Remove it and let it dry.

I then stamped directly onto the panel and allowed the color from the background to provide the color for my image.

I like the simplicity of the card and the softness of the colors. I also like the way one color will bleed onto the others.

Free Bird

 Using neutral colors, such as gray, black, and white, gives your card a more masculine feel. I found two metal birds that were left over from a Paper Pumpkin kit. I added them with glue dots to opposite corners. What do you think?

First, I stenciled my clouds on my Whisper White panel using my sponge brayer and Gray Granite.

Then I adhered the Smoky Slate panel.

I stamped my bird using Archival Basic Black to the center of the Basic Gray piece. I adhered it to the center of the Smoky Slate strip.

I then adhered this panel to the card base.

I stamped my sentiment and added the metal birds with glue dots.

The other Whisper White panel is for the inside of the card. You may choose to stamp on it or leave it blank for a personal note by the sender.

Cute Bugs

 Cute card to send to your co-workers, peers, friends, etc. Of course, you should only send it if you really don't mind being bugged. Before retirement, I used to make a small 3 x 3 card using this stamp set for each member of my team, along with a little goody. As it turned out, their favorite time to bug me was always...

This stamp includes the sentiment right under the ladybug. So, I added the Basic Black ink with my marker and then stamped it on my Pool Party panel. I did this randomly all over the panel.

I then used my Real Red marker to color in all of the ladybugs.

I cleaned my stamp and then inked up only the sentiment using my Basic Black marker. I then stamped my sentiment onto the YoYo Yellow strip.

Better World

 Sometimes I make panels that I am not happy with at all. Yet, I hold onto them. Sometimes I decide to cut them and use smaller bits. Here on this card, I cut a panel in two pieces and placed one on top of the other, with the world sandwiched between them. What do you think?

   String (18") for each color

I created the string art panel and cut it into two pieces. I poured each color of acrylic paint into a cup. Soaked an 18" string into each one, leaving the ends out for grabbing.

I then took a string and placed it between two panels. I laid a book on top and gently pulled the string downward on the panel. I repeated this with each color. Just like any piece of art, each panel will be different.

I did like the way the string pulled the color on the panel, but I did not care for the complete panel. So, I cut it into smaller pieces.
