Woven Sympathy

This 3D embossed frame fits perfectly on an A-2 card front. Not much else is needed. I have chosen to use my sentiment as the focal point within the frame. I like the font. It reinforces the vintage feel to the card. Impressions?

Stamps:
   Woven Heirlooms

Paper:
   Terracotta Tile A-2
   Woven Threads DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)
   Rococo Rose 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Terracotta Tile

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Dry Embossing

Accessories:
   Heirloom Frames Dies
   Heirloom Frames 3-D Embossing Folder
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I chose the background paper for the card. I then picked a coordinating card base, ink, and color for the frame.

Next, I die cut and embossed the Heirloom Frame.

I flipped the center of the die cut and stamped on the reverse side. It fit right back into the frame.

I adhered the background DSP and the center of the frame to the card base.

I added the frame using dimensionals, and finished the card by adding three small pearls to the bottom center of the sentiment.

Beach

Walking on the beach with someone is a great time to bond and make memories. The breeze coupled with the salty smell can put you in the right mood to open up and clear your head. I love this image of the the mom holding hands with her young child as they walk along a quiet peaceful beach. Don't you?

Stamps:
   Beautiful Moments
   Lovely You

Paper:
   Calypso Coral A-2
   Serene Scenery DSP 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Markers:
   Calypso Coral
   Crumb Cake
   Melon Mambo
   Petal Pink
   Real Red
   Soft Suede

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Adhesive

First, I cut my DSP to size and then stamped the image on the bottom right of the panel.

I colored them using the markers listed above.

I then added the sentiment: Just Because. Of course, this can be changed to anything you need.

I attached it to a Calypso Coral card base.

If the color of the card is light enough for writing, I tend to leave it blank. This time, I decided to add a Whisper White panel to the inside of this card. I just feel like it makes the card more complete. What do all of you do?

Rich Hugs

Flower, leaves, butterfly, and sentiment all in one stamp set: Positive Thoughts. There are more stamps included in this cling stamp set, and there are coordinating dies available. Of course, like many Stampin' Up! stamp sets, this one can be paired up with many others as well.

Stamps:
   Positive Thoughts

Paper:
   Rich Razzleberry A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Old Olive
   Rich Razzleberry
   Archival Basic Black

Technique:
   None

Accessories:
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Adhesive

Stamps, Ink, and Paper are the only ingredients needed to make this great card. No special techniques, papers, or embellishments needed. I added pearls from my stash, but they are not vital to the card. What do you think?

First, I stamped three flowers using Rich Razzleberry.

Next, I added the greenery around and between these flowers using Old Olive ink.

I then decided to stamp a butterfly in black.

I added the sentiment using Rich Razzleberry and finished the card with a few pearls.

The second Whisper White panel is for the inside of the card.

Better Magnolias

When you need a card in a hurry, always let the paper do all of the work. You should always try and let the beauty of the paper shine through. Just add a sentiment to this beautiful panel and call it a day. Don't you agree?

Stamps:
   A Dozen Thoughts

Paper:
   Petal Pink A-2, 1/2 x 4
   Magnolia Lane DSP 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Mossy Meadow

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Pink Brads (2)
   Basic Pearl Jewels
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the strip of Petal Pink. Note that this sentiment can be changed to suit your needs.

Next, I attached this strip to the Magnolia Lane DSP panel using 2 pink brads. You can attach this strip anywhere on the card that you like or leave it off completely.

I then attached the panel to the card base using my liquid glue.

Lastly, I added a few pearls to the magnolias.

This is beautiful paper that can stand alone as an all occasions card.

Floral Sympathy

I sponged some softer colors on this 3-D embossing folder. I like these softer tones for this folder and for this occasion. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Peaceful Moments

Paper:
   Rococo Rose A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2), 1-3/4 x 3

Ink:
   Highland Heather
   Rococo Rose
   Soft Sea Foam

Technique:
   Dry Embossing
   Die Cutting
   Sponging

Accessories:
   Country Floral Embossing Folder
   Painted Labels Dies
   Gingham Gala Adhesive-Backed Sequins
   Sponge
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

I have been playing with the Country Floral 3-D embossing folder and have not been satisfied with my results. So, here is another attempt.

First, I embossed my Whisper White panel using the 3-D embossing folder. It is advisable to spray it slightly with water so the fibers stretch rather than tear.

I then sponged the large roses with Highland Heather and the smaller flowers with Rococo Rose. I also sponged the leaves and other florals with Soft Sea Foam.

I stamped, die cut, and sponged my sentiment. It was attached using dimensionals.

The embossed panel was adhered to the Rococo Rose card base using my liquid glue.

The other Whisper White panel was attached on the inside of the card.

Country Fig Madness

Add ink to an embossing folder and get a surprising result. I applied ink to the smooth or flat inside flap of the embossing folder. I used my ink pad itself and dabbed the ink. You can also use a brayer.

Stamps:
   None

Paper:
   Fresh Fig A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Fresh Fig

Technique:
   Dry Embossing with Ink

Accessories:
Country Floral Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder
   Adhesive

This was my first attempt, and I found that the color was too dark. So, I tried a lighter tone.

Stamps:
   None

Paper:
   Basic Black A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Magenta Madness

Technique:
   Dry Embossing with Ink

Accessories:
Country Floral Dynamic Textured Embossing Folder
   Basic Rhinestone Jewels
   Adhesive

I do like the second card better, but the Magenta Madness is a loud color. I think I will have to try embossing and sponging some subtle colors on the roses. What do you think?

This embossing folder has been discontinued by Stampin' Up! Still, the technique can be used with any embossing folder. Whenever you want the embossing to pop with a bit of color on your background, give this technique a try.

Yesterday

Not everyone has a crystal vase waiting for flowers to fill it. Often, we have to grab whatever container is nearby. This is usually a pitcher of some sort. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Country Home

Paper:
   Cajun Craze A-2
   Country Lane DSP 5-1/4 x 4, 3-1/4 x 3-3/4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4, 3-1/4 x 3-3/4

Ink:
   Blackberry Bliss
   Archival Basic Black

Markers:
   Basic Black
   Cajun Craze
   Calypso Coral
   Cherry Cobbler
   Early Espresso
   Grapefruit Grove
   Mossy Meadow
   Poppy Parade
   Powder Pink
   Sahara Sand

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Masking

Accessories:
   Layering Ovals Framelits Dies
   27" Crushed Curry Baker's Twine (2)
   4 Eyelets
   Eyelet Setter Tools
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I stamped my pitcher and flowers. I then colored in the image using various markers. I listed them above.

I then decided to mask the image and stamp the background, using the square tile stamp. Once I realized the mess I made, I die cut the image out using an oval from the Layering Ovals Framelits.

I adhered it onto a panel of DSP. I added an eyelet to each corner and ran some baker's twine through them.

I adhered some DSP to the card base and added this smaller panel using dimensionals.

I do my best to salvage and use everything I can. Of course, it is not always possible, and believe me I have thrown some horrendous mistakes in the trash bin. Still, I think I was able to salvage this one. What do you think? Would you throw up if you got this in the mail?

You Inspire Me

Color your image using your favorite colors and then add your card base, background, and embellishments to coordinate and complement.

Stamps:
   Embrace Each Moment
   Silhouette Scenes

Paper:
   Mossy Meadow A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4, 2-1/2 x 2-7/8, 3/4 x 4-1/4
   Irresistibly Yours DSP 2-5/8 x 5-1/2

Ink:
   Mossy Meadow
   Highland Heather

Technique:
   Watercolor
   Sponging

Accessories:
   Sponge
   Water Painters
   Iridescent Pearls
   Adhesive

First, let me assure you that there is no right or wrong way to make a card. Many have asked me where my ideas come from, or my ability or creativity to put it all together. Funny, I used to ask those very same questions myself.

Let me just say, there is inspiration all around you. Look at your environment and find the colors that look great together. Look at your stack of printed paper and choose a color or two to use and accent on the paper. Better yet, look for a color challenge on SCS or your favorite craft site.

For this card, I just chose two of my favorite colors and used them. The DSP has an emboss resist on it, so I watercolored it, set it aside to dry, and then wiped it down.

The card was assembled like this to meet a sketch challenge. I then sponged the whisper white panels with Highland Heather and added some iridescent pearls.

Natural Thanks

I have a problem with wooden elements. I like how they look and feel on a card, but I don't always know when I should use them. They are also quite bulky when it comes to mailing a card. I have also found that some of them are very fragile. What are your thoughts or concerns?

Stamps:
   None

Paper:
   Soft Sea Foam A-2
   Balmy Blue 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Watercolor Paper 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Balmy Blue
   Coastal Cabana
   Soft Sea Foam
   Basic Black

Technique:
   Stencil
   Watercolor

Accessories:
   Basic Pattern Decorative Masks
   Expressions Natural Elements
   Copper Washi Tape
   Glue Dots
   Adhesive

First, I watercolored my background using three colors: Coastal Cabana, Balmy Blue, Soft Sea Foam. I set the panel aside to dry.

Next, I stenciled the background using my stencil and basic black marker.

I didn't want to cover the panel, so I added a strip of copper washi tape and a wooden "Thanks" to the center.

The Best

I like the soft blending of colors when you add them with a clear block. It is a very easy technique with unique results each time. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Painted Poppies
   Tasteful Touches

Paper:
   Rococo Rose A-2
   Basic Black 5-3/8 x 4-1/8
   Watercolor Paper 5-1/4 x 4
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (Inside)

Ink:
   Rococo Rose
   Highland Heather
   Pear Pizzazz
   Archival Basic Black

Technique:
   Clear Block Stamping

Accessories:
   Clear Block "E"
   Water Spritzer
   Gingham Gala Adhesive Backed Sequins
   Adhesive

I applied the colors using markers on my clear block. I then spritzed the block with a bit of water and stamped my watercolor paper in the middle.

I set the panel aside to dry.

I then stamped the field of poppies from the Painted Poppies stamp set and added the sentiment from Tasteful Touches. With the green and purplish hues in the background, I decided to leave the images clear.

Lastly, I added a few Highland Heather sequins.
