Craft Fair Project #1: Valentine's Treat Bag

Stamps: Groovy Love
Paper: White Lunch Bag, Basic Black 4" Sq., 5 x 2 1/2, Whisper White 5 x 2
Ink: Archival Basic Black, Real Red

My favorite thing about this project is that it can be changed to fit any occasion you need. Whether you are looking for some treat bags for a birthday party, Christmas, Easter, or simply a hostess gift for a workshop. Just change up the stamp and the treat. Have some fun with it.

Birthday Trees

Hello Everyone!  Today, I used a new technique, well a new one for me.  I used 1" painter's tape to ink up the background in various colors.  Pretty cool, don't you think?  I was able to put this card together in less than 10 minutes!  Not bad, since I normally take an hour or so.  Anyway...

First, I cut out my card stock.  I used Tip Top Taupe (A-2) and Glossy White 5 1/4 X 4.  I know that Stampin' Up! no longer caries the glossy paper, but you can use the Shimmery White or Glossy Photo Paper.  Regular white card stock will also work, just not as great as the glossy.

Second, I applied my ink starting at the bottom.  I roughly cut a strip of painter's tape (I found mine at the dollar store.) to cover the width of my card and then some.  I dabbed the tape, sticky side down on my classic ink pad.  The glue on the tape picks up the ink.  I then placed the tape on my card and rubbed it to transfer the ink onto the paper.  I carefully peeled the painter's tape away and viola, the ink was on the paper!  So cool and easy.  I proceeded with the other colors:  Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango, Night of Navy, and Basic Black. Make sure that you use a clean strip of painter's tape for each color. You do not want to mix up your colors on your ink pads.

Third, I stamped my trees (Lovely as a Tree) and the sentiment using the Basic Black Archival Ink.  The sentiment that I used is from the Sassy Salutations Stamp Set. I then adhered the Glossy White paper to the front of the Tip Top Taupe card.

Truly an easy card to make.  Once the background is applied, you can stamp just about anything with whatever sentiment you need.  I hope you enjoy making this card as much as I did.  Following is a list of supplies that I used.  Feel free to order from my Stampin' Up! store, or leave a comment and let me know what you think.  Until next time, Happy Stamping!

Say Thanks With Trees

If you need a card and have very little time, then this is the card for you.  It is quick, easy, beautiful, and can fit any occasion.  Here are the details:

Stamp Sets:  Lovely as a Tree, Lots of Thanks
Paper:  Always Artichoke A-2, Basic Black 3 1/4 X 5, Whisper White 4 1/2 X 2 1/4  (Cut image at 1 1/2 from each side)
Ink:  Basic Black, Soft Sky, So Saffron  Markers:  So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Soft Suede, Always Artichoke
Technique:  Sponging
Accessories: Spiral Border Punch, Adhesive

This card is one of my stamp camp projects for next week, the 23rd of July, 2014.  I really enjoyed making this card, and the stamp set, "Lovely as a Tree" is a classic in my mind.  I do want to mention that I am not the first person to come up with this design.  I know that I saw it some place before, but I can not remember where it was.  So, I want to publicly apologize to the person for not giving credit where credit is due.

I began by cutting my card stock, using the measurements above.  I then stamped my trees with basic black classic ink.  I proceeded to sponge on the soft sky followed by the so saffron for the ground cover.  I did swipe the ground under the trees with the so saffron marker to give the card a bit of depth.  I went on to color the trees with the other markers:  soft suede for the trunks, always artichoke for the leaves, and a bit of calypso coral to add a tinge of color.  I then used the spiral border punch on the black card stock.  In hindsight, I would have stopped the punching before getting to the end.  Oh well, I guess this is what sets a store bought card apart from my card.   I adhered the black card stock to my Always Artichoke card.  I took my trees and cut them into thirds.  I cut at the 1 1/2 inch mark.  I glued these pieces onto the black card stock making sure I spaced them as evenly as possible.  I finished the card by stamping "a thousand thanks" taken from the "Lots of Thanks" stamp set.  I used Classic Black ink for the sentiment, but you can also use Always Artichoke.  Note that you can stamp just about anything on this card.  The trees are fitting for any occasion.
