Sweet Bees

How do you feel about bees? Personally, they scare me. I am the first to run away. They can also be quite expensive if they decide to live in your walls! Still, the images of bees are not as frightening. What do you think of these honeybees in their hive?

Stamps:
   Goody-Goody Gumdrops
   Nature Walk

Paper:
   Rose Red A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4
   Designer Series Paper 5-1/8 x 3-7/8
   Delightful Dijon Scraps

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Delightful Dijon

Technique:
   Die Cutting
   Sponging
   Punching
   Fussy Cutting

Accessories:
   Hexagon Hive Thinlits Dies
   Small Oval Punch
   Sponge
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

The bee image is from the Nature Walk stamp set, and the sentiment is from the Goody-Goody Gumdrops stamp set.

I die cut the bee hive using the Hexagon Hive thinlits dies. I adhered it to the Whisper White panel.

I then stamped and fussy cut several bees. These are adhered with liquid glue and one or two are on dimensionals.

I stamped and punched out the sentiment. I sponged it with Delightful Dijon and adhered it with dimensionals.

The Whisper White panel was then attached to the Rose Red card base.

Thanks for All

Triple Layering is a technique that will give your card dimension. It looks great and is quite easy. It does take some time to cut all of the layers needed. Here is my card with some great fall colors. Thoughts?

Stamps:
   For All Things

Paper:
   Crushed Curry A-2
   Rich Razzleberry 5-1/4 x 4, 4-1/2 x 3-1/4, 3-3/4 x 2-1/2
   Very Vanilla 5 x 3-3/4, 4-1/4 x 3, 3-1/2 x 2-1/4

Ink:
   Crushed Curry
   Cajun Craze
   Old Olive
   Soft Suede

Technique:
   Triple Layering

Accessories:
   Linen Thread
   Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button
   Glue Dots
   Temporary Adhesive
   Adhesive

I first cut all of the cardstock I needed.

Then I put the three layers of Very Vanilla together with a dab of temporary adhesive. You just want to make sure they do not move as you stamp on them.

Next, I stamped all of my images randomly on the layers. I did begin first with the sentiment to make sure it was centered and clear of the other images.

Leaves were stamped in Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, and Old Olive. Acorns were stamped with Soft Suede, along with the sentiment.

I then carefully took the layers apart and matted them with the correct size of Rich Razzleberry.

These were then adhered on top of each other aligning the images. These were then glued onto the Crushed Curry card base.

I then threaded some linen thread through my Chocolate Chip Corduroy Button and tied a bow. This was attached with glue dots.

Relax

Backgrounds created with a gel press plate are one of a kind. Even if I apply the same color of ink, the backgrounds will be different. That is the fun of gel press printing. Take a look at this one and leave your impressions behind.

Stamps:
   A Good Man

Paper:
   Crumb Cake A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Tuxedo Memento Black
   Acrylic Paints

Technique:
   Powdered Gel Press Background

Accessories:
   Baking Soda
   Gel Press
   Brayer
   Acrylic Paints
   Adhesive
   Stamparatus/MISTI/Stamp-a-ma-jig

I used Lydia's Powdered Gel Press Background technique. Her You Tube video is great.

The colors of acrylic paints you use are up to you. I do suggest that you keep all of your prints. This was one that I was initially going to trash. Fortunately, over time, I changed my mind. I think it serves as a wonderful background here. What do you think?

I did use a MISTI to stamp several times and get a nice dark imprint. A Stamparatus or Stamp-a-ma-jig will serve the same purpose. Die cuts on top of this background would also look fantastic.

Rejoicing

Dry embossing is appreciated more when you are able to touch it. It is definitely beautiful when you see it, but it serves its purpose when you get your hands on it. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Abundant Hope

Paper:
   Real Red A-2
   Whisper White 1-3/4" Circle, 5-1/4 x 4

Ink:
   Ruby Red

Technique:
   Dry Embossing
   Sponging
   Punching

Accessories:
   1-3/4" Circle Punch
   Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder
   Corner Rounder Punch
   Sponge
   Dimensionals
   Adhesive

First, I dry embossed the card front using the Manhattan Flower embossing folder. Of course, you can substitute any background embossing folder you have on hand.

Next, I stamped and punched out my sentiment. I used the 1-3/4" Circle punch because that was the size that fit my sentiment. I usually choose my sentiment and then decide on a punch or die cut that will fit.

I sponged my sentiment and then attached it using dimensionals.

Using my corner rounder, I rounded the top and bottom corners of the card front. I then rounded the same corners on the Whisper White panel for the inside of the card, and then adhered it.

Tag It

Tags are a must have item. Just like your stash of cards at the ready to send, your tags should also be ready to attach. Here is a tag I made to attach to something that is delicious. What do you think?

Stamps:
   Yummy
   Woven Heirlooms

Paper:
   Whisper White Scrap

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Purely Pomegranate

Technique:
   Punching

Accessories:
   Purely Pomegranate Stitched Ribbon
   Scalloped Tag Topper
   Curvy Corner Trio

I like to use my scraps for my tags. First, I stamped the tag. The sentiment is from the Yummy stamp set, and the flourish is from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set.

I then used the Scalloped Tag Toper for the top of the tag. I used the Curvy Corner Trio punch on the two bottom corners.

Lastly, I attached a bit of ribbon to the top. I hope you like it.

Celebrate Pool Party

Life offers endless occasions to celebrate. Today, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, waking up and taking a breath is cause for celebration! Below is a note size card to celebrate your special occasion. Any thoughts?

Stamps:
   Many Mates

Paper:
   Whisper White Note Card
   Garden Impressions DSP 3" Sq.
   Shimmer Detailed Laser-Cut DSP

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black

Marker:
   Pool Party

Accessories:
   Brights Candy Dots (Pumpkin Pie)
   Basic Rhinestone Jewels
   Project Life: Playground Washi Tape
   Adhesive

First, I stamped the sentiment, Celebrate, multiple times on the Garden Impressions DSP square.

I then used my Pool Party marker and colored the Very Vanilla Shimmer Detailed Laser Cut DSP.

I adhered the two 3" square panels of DSP together, a bit off-set from each other.

I then glued these to the center of the note card. I added some washi tape to the top and bottom of the card. Glued two Pumpkin Pie candy dots and three rhinestone jewels.

Manhattan Birthday

Get a different look by flipping your embossed image and applying ink. I used my brayer to evenly coat my image with Melon Mambo. The embossing then appears as a white outline. What are your thoughts?

Stamps:
   Wetlands

Paper:
   Melon Mambo A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Melon Mambo
   Soft Sky

Technique:
   Dry Embossing
   Watercolor Wash
   Brayer
   Fussy Cutting

Accessories:
   Manhattan Flower Embossing Folder
   Water Painter
   Brayer
   Adhesive

First, I embossed a Whisper White panel with the Manhattan Flower embossing folder.

I then flipped it over, so the embossing is facing down (the negative side). Using my brayer, I applied Melon Mambo ink. You do not have to worry about getting ink over the whole panel. I then cut the image out with my paper snips.

Using my water painter, I applied a Soft Sky watercolor wash on the other panel.

I attached the Manhattan flower with dimensionals. Stamped my sentiment on the top left and adhered the panel to the Melon Mambo card base.

Snowflake Trio

Here is a clean and simple (CAS) card to express thanks for those wonderful Christmas presents you received. Often times we are with family and friends when we open presents. So, a verbal thank you with a big, huge hug is all that is expected. BUT...what about that very special present that someone went out of their way to get for you? A written thank you note is not only proper, but much appreciated. Do you and when do you send a written Christmas thank you note?

Stamps:
   Colorful Seasons
   Heartfelt Blooms

Wheels:
   Poinsettia Jumbo Wheel

Paper:
   Whisper White A-2

Ink:
   Berry Burst
   Daffodil Delight
   Old Olive
   Pool Party

Technique:
   CAS

Accessories:
   Felt Snowflakes
   Wheel Guide
   Clear Faceted Gems
   Glue Dots

I first stamped the snowflake, from the Colorful Seasons stamp set, multiple times using Daffodil Delight.

I then placed my wheel guide and rolled the Poinsettia Jumbo Wheel on the bottom of the card front using Berry Burst.

I added the sentiment from the Heartfelt Blooms stamp set. I pressed a bit too hard and picked up a bit of the stamp frame. Small flaws like this truly make the card unique.

I attached the Pool Party snowflakes with glue dots and added a gem to the smallest snowflake.

Open Gate Again

"Live as if someone left the gate open." Sometimes we need to be reminded that each moment is a precious gift that should not be thrown away. I really like this image with the horse galloping free. It is simple, but speaks volumes. What are your reactions? Please share.

Stamps:
   Let It Ride

Paper:
   Mossy Meadow A-2
   Whisper White 5-1/4 x 4 (2)

Ink:
   Archival Basic Black
   Mossy Meadow
   Various Acrylic Paints

Technique:
   Powdered Gel Press Background

Accessories:
   Baking Soda
   Gel Press
   Brayer
   Silver Star Brad
   Stamparatus/MISTI/Stamp-a-ma-jig
   Adhesive

To create my Powdered Gel Press background, I followed a You Tube video by Understand Blue. It is found at: Understand Blue's Powdered Gel Press Background

I used some yellow and blue acrylic paint on my gel press. I spread the color with my brayer. I added a bit of baking soda, more ink and spread it all with my brayer. I then pulled a couple of prints. You want to leave it to dry and set. I did not like mine at first, but I'm glad I did not throw it away. After a couple of days, I used it to make this card.

I placed the panel in my stamparatus and stamped the images and the sentiment. I recommend that you use whatever tool you have to be able to stamp multiple times on the same spot in order to get a crisp, clean image.

I then adhered the panel to the Mossy Meadow card base. I also added another Whisper White panel to the inside of the card.
